WHO WE ARE

Indigenous-led programming

Partners in Service is a unique collaboration between Indigenous leaders, academics, and development practitioners from North, Central, and South America. Our individually crafted problem-solving seminars and praxis-based pedagogy allow academic institutions and their students the opportunity to increase their understanding of native perspectives while promoting transformational development models that increase the agency of indigenous communities through structures built by the communities themselves. We also offer long-term logistical support for academics studying subjects beneficial to indigenous advancement who wish to have their research actively inform and be informed by current community development.

Rethinking the Colonial Structure of "Service-Learning"

Partners in Service is a program-related income venture set up to financially support behavioral health programming for indigenous communities with high levels of historical trauma. We specialize in crafting academically relevant travel-seminars in direct collaboration with professors, administrators, and our community partners. Our aim is to provide transformative experiences for students by bringing to light cultural, economic, political, and other power relations between settler-subjects and indigenous communities while providing financial and academic support to Indigenous-led community programming.

We tailor each travel-seminar and project to meet the scope, scale, and teaching objectives of partner institutions as well as the development aspirations of Indigenous communities. Students are confronted with real world applications of classroom learning, as well as examples of how to apply that education to solving social and environmental problems. Partners in Service provides educators with peer support in the development and implementation of curriculum, identifying qualified lecturers as well as facilitating and managing program-relevant service projects. In addition to specialized programming, we provide the food, housing, transportation, travel insurance, and emergency services you need to have peace of mind.
